12x ROAS on Ads? Thank You!

When is the last time you thanked someone for giving you their business? In these strange times with little social interaction, a little appreciation and generosity can go a long way. Over the last couple of weeks, we have been testing the effectiveness of our “Thank You Campaign” strategies and the results were shocking!

What did we do?

We have run thank you ads for a while now but recently we have been testing our variables to find what is the best way to implement these targeted ads. We started with a female fashion client where we have run many appreciation and “thank you” based ads before. We found that over a couple of weeks span the CPM was very close to the client’s everyday average ($24) and the ROAS was 3x. we would use a picture from the face of the brand, ad copy expressing thank, a discount, and expiration for said discount. While we always enjoy a nice return we believed that we can do better! we tested multiple creatives and offers until we found the perfect fit and here’s what we found:

  • A 30-second video with a sincere message from the face of the brand worked very well

    • People will remember your product if you remember them. It’s an easy 30 seconds to truly give thanks and it resonates with your customers.

  • She addresses possible concerns and objections the customer could have in the future.

    • We worked with a clothing brand and realized some major problems with online clothing such as the clothes may not fit, they may be unhappy with the delivery process, or even if they like everything they may never return to your website to buy more. We address all three in one 30 second video acknowledging and combating those objections.

  • Give an offer to cause the customer to return as an upsell, discount, or exclusive content

    • Know your audience and what offer is best suited to your target. Sometimes the best incentive is a discount, they may need to be upsold another item, some may be offered exclusive items or early access. The best thing you can do is understand your customers, your product, and how the two interact.

  • Used an expiration date on the offer

    • Scarcity is a key driver with this tactic

  • Ad copy along the same lines as the picture

    • We make sure we are showing sincere appreciation because we are grateful. We also show the offer and expiration date in the copy to lead to more people stopping to read, watch, and return with their business.

  • Added text to the video to make it FB and IG friendly

  • Targeted past 7-day purchases

After trial and error, we were finally able to put all facets together and found our winning Thank You Ad strategy. After one week of trying this ad we had a CPM of $5, we had the same amount of purchases compared to the original picture ad, and we ended with a ROAS of 12x! We believe this is attainable for every single company with a little time put in. Focus on your customers and what you want to say to them.
